My Perfect Reader — Budgeting for Broadway

I have been thinking about this question a lot. While, of course, my audience will most likely be people who enjoy Broadway, it is hard to pinpoint a specific demographic. However, I will try my best.

I think my ideal reader will be someone who has a passion for the theatre. This someone is either living in New York on a budget or is saving up to travel to the city to spend a couple days binge watching plays. They may not even have a passion for the theatre but they are willing to try it out and don’t want to spend too much money on something they don’t know they will like.

My ideal reader would most likely be my age or a little order. I am assuming Millennials and Gen-Z because we are all savvy enough to not just buy tickets online, but use the internet to our advantage.

I have been thinking a lot about how I should write my piece in acknowledgement of these details. When I read something, I like it to be easily navigated. It needs to be something with bolded words, possible numbered or bulleted lists, and an explanation that doesn’t take forever to read. I know I would have to make the main point of each section clear and then if people wanted more information, they knew where to read it. However, I need to know that many people may not read the explanation and that it shouldn’t be integral to understanding the knowledge that precedes it.

It is also important to note that “budget” is a very subjective term. I was fortunate enough to grow up where I had food on the table and didn’t have to wonder where my next meal was coming from. On that note, I have to be weary when discussing things I would believe would be a “bargain.” Something I think would be a cheap steal someone else still might not be able to afford. I want to make sure I walk that line appropriately, making sure to take that information into consideration.
